Welcome to our page, on this page you will find so many things which will help you understand what we and why we do it. ELDERLY PROJECT The present situation of the elderly people in Furthermore about 75% of the elderly people are below the poverty line. Although poverty is one of the major problems affected the African countries when it attacks the elderly, there is no doubt they ‘re better off than dead. Apart from poverty many problem do affect this group of people and these are: Ø Tropical disease like malaria Ø Political war Ø Very poor sanitation e.g lack of latrines Ø Insecurity. E.g many do not have houses, and those who have the houses are in the bush , forest ,etc Ø HIV/AIDS infect and affected Although some of the elderly people in Therefore it’s thus very dangerous situation of the elderly people that has instigated the need to implement the ALESA project hoping that it will provide solution to the above problems. Another Life International Elderly support and Advocacy is a project which was started to address the issues of elderly in Uganda(ALESA) and this project is under another Life International Many organization have been put in place to address different activities but none has formed to solve the social and economical constraints of the elderly person in fact according to the recent findings nothing has been done to offer assistance to lovely elderly people of this country, the situation of these people leave a lot to be desired, because these are also human beings suffering, in lack without provision, in sick without medication, homeless without shelter, God it’s terrible what our counterparts go through, their lives live in danger because many of these home do not have latrine they utilize bushes and water source to relieve water they use for food. However, having analyzed that it is due to lack of proper communication between the local leaders and current government therefore there is need to develop powers both at regional and local levels. The government should try to incorporate new policies which will address problems affecting the old people. Let interest parties also begin to experiment and share findings with others plus policies should be corrected, this will positively solve the elderly people problems. ELESA project decided to act so that other organizations can base to provide assistance to the needy persons. OUR ACTIVITIES WITH THE ELDERLY. We reach out through home visits, with food, clothes and medical care. This is one of the way we show these elderly people that we care and we love them. We have adult education for those who are illiterate and are still able and will to learn and develop themselves. We create in come generate activities for those who are still strong and they can do some small projects at their homes to give them an income.. We feed those who totally have nothing and they have no where to get food and they are too old without any body to care for them. We find places where those who don’t have where to stay, can stay temporally and we care for them in everything. We train them in various projects which they can set up at home for themselves and help them to earn a living and to come out poverty. We make sure that those who are not staying in clean environment stay in a clean one by trying to construct toilets for them and those whose houses have no roof we try to provide and we also renovate homes which have fallen one side. We have started music dance and drama to help raise funds which can help us to meet there needs. We pray with them and we make sure that they are encouraged. And so many other things Remember since no one cares for these people the need is over whelming, we need your help and support, today your young and tomorrow you will be an elder, this thing can happen to any one please stand with us. tomorrow you may also have orphans. ANOTHER LIFE INTERNATIONAL P.O TEL: +25671851110 Email: anotherlifea@yahoo.com Email: anotherlifea@juno.com WOMEN It is now known that domestic violence is a major factor that increase women’s vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. Women who are raped, physically assaulted by their partners have no or limited options of protecting themselves from infection or accessing HIV/AIDS services. Women all over the world are confronted with social environments that restrain their equality and sexual autonomy. Social pressure bears on them to tolerate violence and consequently the physical and emotional abuse they suffer from husbands and the extended family is hardly condemned. Instead, it is those that stand up to it that generally get frowned upon. This has left many women single mothers and some have lost their lives, many have decided to live their lives like that hurt, and wounded on top of that many are widows their husband died of HIV/AIDS, many lost their husband during the war, and so many are poor they depend on poor husbands, so all the responsibility of raising up children is left upon the women OUR ACTIVITIES WITH THE WOMEN We sensitize families about domestic violance, abuse and being faithful to their partners in here we talk to women and men We make workshops on projects and we create an income generation projects for women who are living beyond poverty line. We offer counseling to those who are abused and those who are traumatized.e We offer assistance to the widows and sponsorships to the orphans plus scholastic materials. We help the school drop out to go back to school under our sponsorship We reachout to schools and we talk to the girls about HIV/AIDS and evangelise We ive them small loans to set up small businesses to help them sustain their families.
